Habitat
Hagen's pit vipers inhabit parts of southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia's Sumatra, and other nearby islands (e.g., Bangka), in pristine lowland and mountain forests up to 600 meters above sea level.
Description
Size: Hagen's pit viper has a strong body, with a typical triangular shape that is clearly wider than the body. Its body is green in color and rarely has fuzzy, darker stripes. Many specimens carry a series of small, faint spots (each no larger than two human scales) on either side of the vertebrae line. Maximum size can be up to 116cm.
Coloration: The underside is light green with a continuous white line that begins behind the eyes and extends to the base of the tail, separating the ventral and dorsal scales. The scales on the chin and throat and above and below the lips are pale green to pale white. The tail is pink or reddish brown.
Diet
Hagen's pit viper is nocturnal in habits and is typically encountered on low vegetation where it hunts for small mammals and birds.
Reproduction
Like all pit vipeis, hagen's pit vipers is oviparous.
